Every Second Counts: Why Registering on The Circuit Saves Lives
Share
When someone suffers a cardiac arrest, every second counts. For each minute that passes without CPR or defibrillation, their chance of survival drops by up to 10%. That’s why rapid access to a defibrillator isn’t just important — it’s life-saving. Yet, across the UK, thousands of defibrillators are hidden in plain sight. They sit unused, not because they’re broken, but because emergency services simply don’t know they exist.
🚨 Enter The Circuit — The National Defibrillator Network
Developed in partnership with the British Heart Foundation, Resuscitation Council UK, St John Ambulance and the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives, The Circuit is a centralised, real-time database that gives NHS ambulance services instant visibility of defibrillators across the UK. By registering your defibrillator on The Circuit, you’re giving 999 call handlers the power to direct bystanders to it during an emergency — making the difference between life and death in your community.
✅ Why Should You Register?
- Visibility: Your defibrillator becomes accessible to 999 call handlers and ambulance crews across the UK.
- Speed: Time is critical. Registering means someone suffering a cardiac arrest can get help faster.
- Community Impact: Help save the lives of your neighbours, family, or friends — even strangers — just by registering a device you already have.
